South America cruisetour will surprise and delight you….

There is a place where mountains are capped with snow, glaciers ring the water’s edge and miles of coastline form a natural habitat for seals, penguins and whales.  As rugged as Alaska and as pristine as Norway, South America is a stunning surprise.  Join the Emerald Princess on a 20-day cruisetour January 31, 2018, Tour 7C,  to explore legendary Machu Picchu and Lima, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, the Falkland Islands, and Chile. Your cruisetour consists of a 14-day Princess cruise from Buenos Aires to Santiago, followed by a 7-day Princess land tour of Lima and Cusco, Peru, including Machu Picchu.

Fly to Buenos Aires, overnight on the ship, with tours offered on Day 2. The next day is spent in Montevideo.  After a day at sea, visit the port of Puerto Madryn, Argentina, and then Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands. Visit the nautical museum and a British pub.

As the ship rounds Cape Horn, you’ll appreciate the skill of early explorers who pitted their frail crafts against these challenging waters.  Arrive in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost town.

Arrive at Punta Arenas, Chile.  The next two days are at sea, cruising through the Chilean Fjords and  Amalia Glacier.  Call at Puerto Montt, Chile, before arriving inValparaiso, Chile to disembark.

Via Santiago, visit the coastal city of Vina del Mar, followed by a city tour of Santiago, before flying to Lima, Peru.

In the morning, fly to Cusco, where your hotel and lunch will be waiting.  Explore the Pisac Market, spending two nights in this historic city, where massive Inca-built walls line steep, narrow cobblestone streets and plazas are thronged with descendants of the Incas.

Then board your rail coach for the thrilling 3-hour train ride into the Andes to Machu Picchu, discovered in 1911.  As you journey to the “Lost City of the Incas” you’ll marvel at this most extraordinary example of landscape architecture in the world. After a guided tour and spending the night there, view Machu Picchu at sunrise, before the train  brings you back to Cusco for more sightseeing.

The next morning, fly back to Lima for a panoramic tour and time on your own. After a restful night, fly home the next day.
